Our Mission
Our mission at Talley Eye Institute is to continue to be the premier leader in medical and surgical eye care in the Tri-State area. In order to do this, we will:
- First and foremost, provide patient centered, compassionate care with cutting edge technology
- Promote an enjoyable work environment while maintaining a professional atmosphere
- Assist referring doctors in the expedient and exceptional care of their patients

Our Story
Our Story
Talley Eye Institute (TEI) was originally founded as Talley Eye Care (TEC) by Terry W Talley, MD in 1972. An Evansville native, Dr. Talley returned to his hometown after completing his medical training at Indiana University followed by his ophthalmology training at the University of Michigan. Dr. Talley specialized in cataract and refractive surgery as well as comprehensive ophthalmology and provided eye care initially to the Evansville area but slowly expanded into other areas of the Tri-State, including southern Illinois. During his many years in practice, Dr. Talley ensured Talley Eye Care remained at the forefront of ophthalmic care and even brought the first LASIK excimer laser to Evansville.
In 1985, Dr. Talley was joined by Dr. John E. Brandt, OD who was instrumental in helping Talley Eye Care develop and expand its optometric referral network. By working in partnership with participating co-managing optometrists, the referral network allowed TEC to expand care to patients living further from our home base in Evansville. We currently serve 7 satellite locations in Indiana and Illinois.

Talley's Growth
In 1995, Dr. Talley started Valley Surgery Center, an ambulatory surgery center dedicated to performing outpatient eye surgery. By focusing solely on eye surgery, Valley Surgery Center has been able to provide high-quality, lower cost, and more convenient ophthalmologic surgical care to the Tri-State area.
Over the years, Talley Eye Care continued to expand and new doctors joined the practice- adding their specialized skills and widening our scope of practice. We now have 8 providers with 4 being fellowship trained sub-specialists. Our practice scope has expanded to include not only comprehensive ophthalmology and cataract surgery, but also: treatment of vitreo-retinal diseases, treatment of corneal/external disease, LASIK and refractive surgery, surgical management of glaucoma, and consultative optometry. To reflect the wide array of ophthalmologic services we now provide, a name change was felt to be in order, and so Talley Eye Care became Talley Eye Institute.
In March 2019, Talley Eye Institute officially moved from our office of many years in central Evansville to our new facility on the Evansville East side
